Two.
“Don’t keep my loving on my mind.” A soft whisper eh-echoed in a warmly-lit kitchen. Bare feet padded across the tiled floor, and the asymmetrical redhead spun to the fridge door. Pale hands gripped the doors and threw them open, revealing an armada of food and beverages. Green eyes flickered playfully to each drink, and she tapped her finger to her lips, finally settling on a can of soda.
“Cause its messy, yes this mess is miiiineee…” She whisper-sung as she pranced to her room, sipping her soda absentmindedly. She did a quick glance in the mirror.”Look we have similar stitches,” she murmured, “look we have similar frowns.” Another sip of her soda. “Did you see the words you wrote? Give me rabies, bring your babies from the hospital.” She slipped on silver flipflops and swiped mascara on her eyelashes. She texted her boyfriend to tell him she was ready to go, then sipped her drink after shutting her phone shut. The soda tasted…off, sure, but whatever. It was probably just stale or something after being unused in the garage all the time. She stuck her tongue out in distaste, then tossed the bad can away, grabbing her gray purse and heading out the door to see her lovely boyfriend’s red car pull up. She grinned as she opened the passenger-side door and slid in, planting a quick kiss on his lips.
Mwah, mwah!
“Hello handsome,” she purred, buckling her seat belt as he drove down the hill from her neighborhood. “I missed you all day.” His green eyes (which matched hers) settled on hers and he smiled adorably.
“I missed you too beautiful,” he replied softly, turning the wheel of his car. “What do you want to do?” She glanced at her for a moment before reverting his eyes back to the road.
“I’unno,” she mumbled, shifting through her purse for a piece of gum. “Watch a movie on Netflix or whatever?” She popped a piece of Orbit in her mouth and checked her phone for a text from Twitter.
“Sounds good,” he concurred, driving past Publix and nearing his home. She smiled and glanced out the window. She felt weird. It wasn’t just a stomach-ache, it was…odd. Her whole body tingled a bit and she could feel her heart race a bit. Maybe it was just butterflies from being with him. Yeah, that was it. Butterflies.
His car pulled up to his driveway and she stepped out, feeling the crisp breeze and sighing. Turning around, she embraced her boyfriend in a loving hug, gazing into his green eyes. Grasping his hand, he led her into his home, past his black cat and into his dark blue bedroom.

She laid upside down on his soft bed, eyes-half-closed and watching Moulin Rogue on the tv screen. He laid next to her, tenderly placing little kisses on her neck and cheek every so often, entwining her little fingers with his. She smiled back at him, then closed her eyes for a moment. God, she felt weird. She placed her free hand on her forehead, sighing deeply. His green eyes crossed from the tv to look at her, and is eyebrows furrowed.
“Are you okay?” He asked, worry showing in his face. Her eyelids flickered open slowly, and she nodded weakly. Just a headache. and a stomachache. and shivers down her body. Shivers? Shivers. Shivers shivers shivers-
“I’ll be right back,” she whispered, siting up clumsilly and making her way to his bathroom, clutching her head. She closed the door and gazed into the mirror. She looked fine. She didn’t feel fine, but she looked fine. Pale green eyes, mascara on her eyelashes, lipbalm on her lips, pink streaks in her red hair-
Wait, what?
her eyes widened in confusion as she leaned in toward the mirror. Pink? Her hair wasn’t pink. It was quite red, although faded since the last dying, but pink? She stared and grasped a strand of hair in her fingers examining it closely. Maybe it was the sun. Maybe it was some weird fading effect of the dye she used. Maybe it was completely normal, like the rest of her. Same green eyes, same lips, same nose, same pointed ears-
…No, not the same pointed fucking ears. She pushed her hair out of the way for a closer look. They looked Vulcan-like. Her ears were not normal. And neither was her pink hair, which…seemed to be spreading ever-so-slowly. More strands of pink began to cancel out her red strands.
“What the fuck,” she growled at her reflection. She heard her boyfriend call her name outside, and clenched her teeth. “Fuck fuck fuckkk.” He couldn’t see her like that. Thank god for hats. She pulled out a brown beanie and placed it atop her head, covering her ears and most of her pink hair. Sighing, she stepped out of the bathroom to find her boyfriend standing there, looking worried.
“Are you okay?” he asked, pulling her into a hug. She accepted it and stood on her tip-toes to kiss him on the lips. God, he was so adorable. She nodded slowly and made her way back to his bed, crashing upon it and savoring the softness of his blankets. he put an arm around her and laid next to her whispering sweet words and stroking her hair. Her heart began to race even faster now. She felt his fingers try to tuck a piece of her hair behind her ears. Her ears. Oh, shit.
She jerked upright, wide-eyed and covering her head. He blinked a few times in shock.
“What— what’s wrong? Are you okay? You’re acting weird. Please, tell me what’s wrong,” he gave her the puppy-dog look, pouting his lips then showing true concern. She shook her head.
“I.. I don’t feel good. I have to go,” she mumbled, grasping for her phone. He frowned.
“Do you want me to drive you home?” He offered.
“No, it’s fine, I have a ride,” she started to text her mother, the snapped her phone shut and grabbed her bag. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” she promised, kissing him on the lips. She had to get home and figure out what the fuck was wrong with her and fix it before he found out. He kissed her back, pulling her into a long hug, and she buried her head into his shoulder. “I love you,” she murmured.
“I love you too,” he replied gently. She took a few steps toward his bedroom door and glanced back at him, sighed and walked out, closing the door behind her. The house was empty except for him and his cat, and she took a step foward.
Her eyes rolled upwards and suddenly, darkness.
